Samtlige havmølleparker koblet ud af stormen på samme tid

Danmark: Usædvanlig landsdækkende storm fik samtlige havmølleparker og en lang række landmøller til at stoppe produktionen. Her til formiddag blæser det stadig for meget til fire af fem havmølleparker.

I stedet fik Danmark strøm fra de termiske værker og fra Norge, Sverige og Tyskland, som havde overskud af vindkraft fra landmøllerne længere mod syd.

The wear and tear on offshore wind farms means that within a decade we will have to pay tens of billions of pounds to replace them
 
It has long been obvious that by far the most delusional element in the Government’s shambles of an energy policy is how it subordinates all else to an obsession with building thousands of hopelessly inefficient and absurdly oversubsidised windmills. This is now only made worse by George Osborne’s bid to appease his backbenchers by transferring a fraction of the 100 per cent subsidy paid to those increasingly unpopular onshore wind farms to the giant offshore wind farms, which already receive a 200 per cent subsidy, making such electricity as they produce six times more expensive than that we get from coal.
 
It is now a year, however, since a report for the Renewable Energy Foundation by Prof Gordon Hughes, a former senior energy adviser to the World Bank, dropped what should have been a further huge bombshell into the energy debate.

Plans for a £5.4bn offshore wind farm off the coast of Tiree in the Inner Hebrides have been dropped.

Scottish Power Renewables (SPR) announced it would not proceed with the Argyll Array scheme following technical and environmental site studies.

It would have had up to 300 turbines and a capacity of up to 1800MW, enough to power one million homes.

Europe wants to block UK wind farm subsidies

European climate action commissioners say state aid for renewable technologies should be phased out by the end of the decade

The European Commission is to order Britain to end wind farm subsidies.

Officials have told ministers that the current level of state support for renewable energy sources must be phased out by the end of the decade.

Taxpayer support for solar energy must also be cut, the commission will say.

The commission, which oversees the European single market, is preparing to argue that the onshore wind and solar power industries are “mature” and should be allowed to operate without support from taxpayers. Under the single market rules, European Union governments are forbidden from providing long-term “state aid” to domestic industries that can function without support.

A Government source said European officials have privately warned ministers that they must reduce public support for onshore wind and solar generators.

Warning over wind turbine syndrome

One of the most senior doctors in the Department of Health has warned the Department of the Environment that people at risk of the controversial wind turbine syndrome should be treated “appropriately and sensitively as these symptoms can be debilitating”.
