Monsanto points to sabotage at GMO-contaminated wheat field

Biotech giant Monsanto says that its unapproved experimental wheat ended up growing at an Oregon field through what most likely was an isolated act of sabotage.

This week the food and farming secretary, Owen Paterson, launched an extraordinary propaganda campaign to encourage the nation to accept GM crops and farming.

He bolstered his campaign with claims that some seven million children in the Far East could have been saved from blindness or  death in the last 15 years if only people had opened the door to a new form of GM 'Golden Rice'.

However, his efforts were unravelling today amid evidence that GM food is banned from the dinner tables of MPs, while his claims for the GM rice proved to be bogus.

The House of Commons Catering service today confirmed that the ban on GM ingredients which dates back to 1998 remains in place as a matter of 'customer choice'.

It said: 'In line with its procurement policy, the House of Commons Catering Service avoids, wherever identifiable, the procurement of foods that contain genetically modified organisms.

'To this end, as part of the tendering process, food suppliers are required to work to a strict GM organisms policy and give assurances that goods supplied be free from genetically modified materials.'

It added: 'The decision to avoid GMs is seen as largely a matter of customer choice.' [...]

Det sies at kantinene til Monsanto heller ikke serverer GMO-mat, men det kan jeg ikke bekrefte her og nå.

Foreløpig er jo GMO-mat ikke godkjent i Norge, men jeg tar det som en selvfølge at Stortingsrestauranten og Regjeringens serveringssteder vil være først på plass med slik mat dersom det godkjennes i Norge. For ingen kan vel godkjenne noe de ikke selv vil spise?

Monsanto unapproved GMO wheat govt-stored up to 2011

Monsanto's unapproved GMO wheat, which made its way onto an Oregon field and is feared to have contaminated US wheat supplies, was stored at a US government-controlled facility until at least late 2011.

The confirmation that the controversial strain of wheat was stored at the National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation in Fort Collins, Colorado, comes as US Department of Agriculture (USDA) investigates how the unapproved wheat ended up in an Oregon field this spring.

The documents detailing shipments of the bioengineered wheat received by Reuters consist of correspondence between Monsanto and the Colorado facility. The site can store seeds for decades while retaining their viability, much longer than is possible with conventional storage.

Monsanto insists the contamination of the field was sabotage. The company suggested earlier that someone was able to secretly access bioengineered wheat, which had been made resistant to Roundup, a Monsanto-sold pesticide, and planted it in the Oregon field to damage Monsanto's work with biotech crops.

The USDA announcement of the discovered bioengineered wheat on an 80-acre farm in Oregon opened up a probe into the matter.

The plant was developed by Monsanto between 1998 and 2005, but was never approved or made into a commercial product.

Det er rett og slett sinnssykt! Hvem skal få patent på luften vi puster? Noen ganger føler jeg dyp skam over deler av menneskeheten, som synes å jobbe for en stadig lavere standard. Hvem er det som til syvende og sist sitter med ansvaret for hva det kan gis patenter på?

Forøvrig har jo både Monsanto og Nestlé søkt trygg beskyttelse under FN-taket.

Imposter. Charlatan. These words fit Obama. He's pretended, like Clinton, to care, but he doesn't. He doesn't care that GMO food is taking over the country and the world. He wants it to happen. He's always wanted it to happen.

The sitting president of the United States, Monsanto, DuPont, and Dow, among others, are prepared to do whatever is necessary to make GMO food dominate America.

They intend, through Monsanto-gene drift among millions of plants in ag fields, through increased planting of GMO crops, and through introduction of still more GMO crops, to wrap up the USA in genetically engineered food.

Obama is on board. He's always been on board.
