Abstract.
Replication is an important part of science, and by repeating past analyses, we show that a number of papers in the scientific literature contain severe methodological flaws which can easily be identified through simple tests and demonstrations. In many cases, shortcomings are related to a lack of robustness, leading to results that are not universally valid but rather an artifact of a particular experimental set-up. Some examples presented here have ignored data that do not fit the conclusions, and in several other cases, inappropriate statistical methods have been adopted or conclusions have been based on misconceived physics. These papers may serve as educational case studies for why certain analytical approaches sometimes are unsuitable in providing reliable answers. They also highlight the merit of replication. A lack of common replication has repercussions for the quality of the scientific literature, and may be a reason why some controversial questions remain unanswered even when ignorance could be reduced. Agnotology is the study of such ignorance. A free and open-source software is provided for demonstration purposes.

Haha ... det er ifølge Rasmus himself ikke første gangen dette paperet har blitt avist:

Our efforts met strong resistance, with one reviewer dead against our paper (others more favourable), and after a couple of rejections, we proceeded to publish the work as a 'discussion paper' in Earth System Dynamics (European Geophysical Union). There it is open for comments (Agnotology: learning from mistakes).

The interesting part is to read the comments – all very negative in one way or the other

Second, much of the discussion in the appendix is written in an inflammatory and
insufficiently supported fashion. Removal of subjective characterization would make
the paper stronger by reducing the verbosity and of more lasting value by focusing
on scientific issues. It is entirely irrelevant whether the authors of some papers also
distribute pamphlets to school headmasters, just as it is scientifically irrelevant what
the political affiliation or religion or hair color of authors are.

Hehe, jeg har lest noen av kommentarene. Solheim et als er særdeles fyldig.

Benestad, Hygen og datakokkene fra SkS' artikkel har alle kjennetegn på å være en "hit piece" der omtrent rubbel og bit av det som går mot dogmet, skal "diskrediteres". Problemet er at deres misforståtte rolle som "autoriteter" eller pompøse "klimadonnaer" tilsynelatende har fått dem til å glemme at et vitenskapelig punkt må tilbakevises vitenskapelig - det holder ikke med armveiving og luftige påstander.

Artikkelen er antakelig en slags variant av et "Lew paper". Kanskje de kan prøve å få den inn i dette psykologitidsskriftet. Eller i Morgenbladet.
